Random Observation/Comment #655: Anime has taught me that you can switch the mood of the scene by putting on a cute chibi face.

Why this list?
I know I don’t typically write standard “favorite” lists, but I feel like anime is obscure/amazing enough to have people watch it if you need something to binge. I ordered this pretty much by how I got addicted to watching anime. Also, I watched way too much anime while at Cooper.
- Cowboy Bebop – Every anime list should have this on there. The first anime that got me hooked.
- Trigun – Vash the Stampede!
- Hellsing / Hellsing Ultimate – Super and gory, but so much fun
- Naruto / Naruto Shippuden – Finally finished this after 10+ years. Fillers galore at first and a lot more manga reading, but I was not disappointed with the final fights
- Bleach – First season was really fun and a great concept, but fillers made me lose interest
- FLCL – Furi Kuri! 6 episodes and a mind bender (Didn’t get into the second one)
- Berserk (97-99) / Berserk (2016 series) – Dark. Weird ending. Loved watching it
- Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade – Random like FLCL
- Samurai 7 – Great story line
- Samurai Champloo – Playful and serious with some amazing artwork
- Neon Genesis Evangelion – Big robot anime and relatively short
- Afro Samurai – Watched for the Samuel L Jackson voice over
- Full Metal Panic – Also the chibbi versions – Doesn’t take itself too seriously
- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya – Quirky! Love weird concepts like this that do multiverse repeats
- Black Lagoon – Reminded me of the bounty hunter theme from Cowboy Bebop
- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagenn – Loved the first half more than the second. Lots of satire about big robot anime cliches while being a big robot anime
- Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) – Old school animation. Hilarious when they switch from super serious faces to playful ones. Definitely perverted. Somewhat good lessons.
- Golden Boy – Perverted, but short 6 episodes that ties it together
- Ghost In The Shell (GITS) – Futuristic detective setting. Beautiful artwork.
- Elfen Lied – So much gore and super creepy.
- Monster – Really long series, but such good storytelling
- Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) – My love for food makes this a top favorite. Lots of fan service.
- Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood) – Greater starter anime for someone to get hooked. Still cry every time I watch the chimera episode.
- Baccano – An anime worth watching twice since everything is in reverse order.
- Death Note – So much better than the movie or live action version. Some really clever moments.
- One Punch Man – One puunnnccchhhhh – saitama workout ftw!
- Sword Art Online – Love the concept and decent storyline
- Nodame Cantibale – If you love classical music, you’ll love this anime
- Steins Gate – Stick with it. It gets so good.
- Samurai Jack – Vinessa suggested this and I can’t find a reason why it wouldn’t be anime even though it’s cartoon network. Shrug.
