Epic 56 Hours in NY

Random Observation/Comment #742: If I spent every long weekend like I did for my visit to NY, I’d probably die 10 years younger, but it would be so much fun.

If your friend of 15 years turns 50, you take a flight to see him and have an epic time. Happy Birthday, Johnson!

Here’s my ridiculously optimized 56-hour itinerary:

7AM – Flight from DEN to LGA

12:30PM – Arrive in LaGuardia – Took one of the fastest Ubers in my life into the city (20 min! no traffic!)

1PM – Eat at Burp Bowl Cafe – Hole in the wall place on 27th and Lex. Really good beef noodle soup and tripe.

2-7PM – Playing hardcore table tennis at Spin New York 23 and drinking at Spin

8PM – Meet with Jake, Jared, and Dennis for food at KTown at Soju Haus – Korean BBQ was too busy, but we still had some delicious authentic food

12:30AM – Hang out for more drinks

2AM – Hang out with Jenny and Jake + watch Rangers game

4AM – Finally go to bed

9AM – Oddly awake – Egg and Cheese with mayo, hot sauce, and lettuce from a bodega

10AM-1PM – Walk from 103rd St through Central Park down to Keens (5 miles)

2-4PM – Keens Steakhouse – Eating all the amazing meat. Definitely get the mutton. Stomach is a graveyard. Definitely need a reservation.

5-8PM – Table tennis at Spin – Good thing I played 6 hours yesterday. Mostly drinking

9PM – Nobu Downtown with Johnson and Jared – $200 for 3 dishes

10PM-2:30AM – Kat shows up – go to Karaoke at Muses 35 Bar & Karaoke with Jared and Justin – Really miss singing Karaoke

3AM – Chat with Jenny and Jake again and watch more Rangers game

4AM – Finally go to bed

8:30AM – Up again for no reason

9AM – Slow commute to Chinatown

10AM – Egg custard! So yummy

11AM-1PM – Dim sum at House of Joy with Jared, Mike, Greg, Dennis, and Justin – Eat all the food

1-3PM – Walk around SoHo/NoLita to get some Milk bar cookies and look at some fancy Italian food. Bought salts at The Meadow – great idea for gifts that pack well for a flight

3-5PM – Head back to spin for a last drink and more photos

8PM – Flight back home
